Fundamental Rights Agency
On the 1st March 2007, the European Monitoring center on racism and xenophia (EUMC) became the European Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA).
EU enlargement
As part of the accession process to the EU, states which are candidates are required to respect the
Copenhagen Criteria. They require that a state have the institutions to preserve democratic governance and human rights, a functioning market economy, and that the state accept the obligations and intent of the EU.
Transgender
ILGA-Europe defines itself as an LGBT organisation and has always strived to incorporate trans issues into its lobbying activities. In order to better co-ordinate and strengthen efforts in this domain, the trans working group was formed in April 2003, comprising ILGA-Europe board members and independent consultants.
